A South African braai in Korea

On a rainy Saturday afternoon a few South Afrikaans put down the soju and chopsticks and picked up a few bottles of wine and a braai* tong.

Since I’ve been in Daejeon, I sometimes feel like I speak more Afrikaans than English or Korean. I have been blessed with the most lekker Afrikaans kids this side.

With our Afrikaans playlist trying it’s best to compete with the drunk Korean in the park’s conversations with himself and rain drizzling around our Korean style park shelter, we were at home.

Here we are with our braai covered in pork ribs, chicken skewers, steak and, of course, braaibroodjies*. Just shows, you can create a home wherever you go.
